DEEP DISH PIZZA


 
BASIC CRUST:
1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. onion
2 tbsp. cooking oil
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
1 egg
 
FILLINGS:
3/4 - 1 lb. sausage
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 (16 oz.) can kidney beans
1 c. Monterey Jack or American cheese
1 - 2 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. ground cumin
2/3 c. enchilada sauce
 
(Ground beef may be substituted for sausage.)
 
CRUST:
Combine ingredients into medium bowl, stir until blended, spread batter on bottom and sides of 11 x 14 pan. Fill with fillings and top with toppings.
 
FILLINGS:
Brown meat and onion, drain. Add remaining ingredients and simmer 1 minute. Spoon over crust and bake at 400 degrees for 20-30 minutes.May be topped with any of the following:
Lettuce
Tomatoes
O lives
Green peppers
Mushrooms
Paprika
chives
Cheese
Bacon
Onion rings
Sour cream
Corn chips
Taco sauce
Enchilada sauce
