DEEP DISH PIZZA


 
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce or 1 (16 oz.) can whole tomatoes, drained
1/2 sm. onion, chopped
1 tsp. dried oregano leaves
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
4 oz. Mozzarella cheese, grated
 
OPTIONAL ADDITIONS:
1 sm. green pepper
Pepperoni
Sausage
Olives
 
Cook together ground beef and onion. Prepare pizza dough. Mix together tomato sauce, oregano, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Press dough into bottom and half way up sides of greased glass baking dish (13 x 9). Sprinkle ground beef over dough, spoon tomato mixture over top of beef and sprinkle with cheese. Add desired toppings. Bake at 425 degrees for 25 minutes.
 
PIZZA DOUGH FOR DEEP DISH PIZZA:
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 c. warm water
2 tbsp. cooking oil
2 1/2 c. flour
 
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in remaining ingredients. Mix together until smooth and let rise about 5 minutes.
