Sweet 'n Savory Brisket

1 ( 3 to 4 lb) trimmed beef brisket, halved
1 C. ketchup
1 (1oz) pack dry onion soup mix
3/4 tsp. black pepper
1/3 C. grape or plum jelly

Place half brisket in slow cooker.
In bowl, combine jelly,ketchup,soup mix and pepper  and spread half over meat.
Top with remaining brisket and pour ketchup mixture over top.
Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or until meat is tender.
Slice brisket and serve with cooking juices.
